12 drivers turned up to race on the 1st November 2011 including long lost Steve Welford.

Two regulars missing in action were JT and Baz.

The drivers were broken up into 3 groups.

2nd Steve G 58.61
3rd Riki 57.28

In the next group Dave had some car troubles and his car landed on the floor at one stage.

2nd Paul 74.90
3rd Steve W 73.18
4th Shannon 71.41

2nd Adam 86.44
3rd Kerry 80.68

18th October 2011

On the 18th October 2011 we ran Parma Int32's in 2 groups for 5 minute heats.

We split the 10 drivers into 2 groups of 5, but Paul had major car troubles in the first group and we felt sorry for him so he ran in the second group as well.

In the first group JT had 3 good heats with 30 laps and came top in the group – Well done JT !

1st JT 120.72 laps

2nd Jim 110.83
3rd Dave 109.73
4th Steve 88.54
5th Paul 54.97

Barry did a 37.45 (in Blue lane) but that was not quite as good as Adam who did the heat of the night with 37.47 (in the Yellow lane) and took the top spot – Well done Adam

2nd Barry 146.04
3rd Kerry 140.30
4th Paul 132.46

6th Shannon 107.56

25th October 2011

Then on the 25th October 2011 9 drivers did a run-through with 1/24th V8 SuperCars.

It was good to see the race control software put Paul and Pete next to one another again, as it provides more crashes, marshalling and arguing that way ! ; )

Barry had the fastest heat of the night (on Blue lane) with 24.33, and won the race overall – Well done Barry !

1st Barry 94.65 laps
2nd Adam 91.54

1/24th LMP / GTP All-in
11th October 2011

Shannon Wins !!!

Shannon won in a field of 9 drivers with 1/24th LMP/GTP cars in an “all-in” race on the 11th October 2011.

After the Divisional Series, Christchurch has decided to have a few weeks of various one-off type races, which Shannon won this week !
Shannon who had been promoted up from div2 into div1 with the 1/24th cars, had not had such a good run in the divisional series, but has more than made up for it on Tuesday night with a win !

JT had car troubles and got the wooden spoon (unlike Shannon who won !).

Adam did a 25.38 on Red lane which was the best heat of the night, but was inconsistent, unlike Shannon who won !
Barry also ran consistently fast, but Shannon Won by half a lap overall !
Well done Shannon !

1st Shannon 96.77 laps (and takes the win !)
2nd Barry 96.24 (who lost to Shannon !)
3rd Adam 95.75 (who lost to Barry who lost to Shannon !)
4th Paul 91.22 ( …...... you get the idea – Shannon won !)
5th Kerry 89.34
6th Brendon 88.14
7th Pete 87.43
8th Dave 85.71
9th JT 78.96

Did I mention Shannon won ?

GO THE ALLBLACKS !!! - Win like Shannon !

Kerry : )

P.S. Shannon won !

1/24th LMP / GTP 4th Round
4th October 2011

On the 4th September 2011 Christchurch ran the 1/24th Divisional Series with LMP/GTP cars for 4th (Final) Round of the Series.

Div3 ran first.
It was good to see Jim back and racing again.
JT had car troubles, but it was Jack who got off to a flyer with 23.12 laps on Green lane for his first heat to set the pace for div3.
Jack actually got slower with every heat he raced, but still had more than enough speed to win each heat – Well done Jack !

1st Jack 86.72 laps
2nd JT 72.33
3rd Jim 71.92
4th Steve 69.16

Div1 ran next.
Baz and Kerry had the closest battle of the night, but it was Kerry who ended up just under half a lap ahead when the final tally was done.
Barry won the top division (again !), and the Series – Well done Barry !

1st Barry 100.72 laps
2nd Kerry 97.03
3rd Baz 96.56
4th Shannon 89.31

Div 2 ran last.
Lately div2 has been our “demolition-derby” class, but less damage than normal happened this week !
There were a few crashes, but not too many of the 3 or 4 car high-speed pile-ups that normally occur.
Dave and Pete had car troubles, but not really due to crashing this time.
Paul ran better than Brendon in both the Red and Blue lanes, however Brendon did more than well enough in the other 2 lane to take the win overall by about a lap and a half.

1st Brendon 93.03 laps
2nd Paul 91.58
3rd Pete 85.80
4th Dave 77.52

Another big thanks to Chris for bringing in a meat pack to be raffled, which Jim won this time.
Next week it'll be a relaxed “fun-night” with both Parma Int32 and 1/24th Cars.
Go the ABs !,
Kerry : )

Race what you like night
20th September 2011

A few of our guys were missing in action on Tuesday so we had a "race what you like night".
A tight contest ended up with young Jack Fife taking away the box of jaffa's (the choc fish also missing in action). Some how, he also took the meat raffle prize back home too.
Cheers, and see you next week for 1/32GP's and 1/32 Internationals.

Parma Int32 Divisional Series 4th
13th September 2011

On the 13th September 2011 Christchurch ran the Parma Int32 Divisional Series 4th and Final Round of the Series.

We were meant to run a 5th heat “Ladder” final, but it was forgotten about due to the carnage that is division 2 and an impromptu committee meeting at the end of the night.

Div3 ran first.
Our newest club member Riki raced his first meeting and did an impressive 15.03 laps on Yellow lane which is really good for a first-timer with an Int32.
Jack was just off the boil and had a poor run in Red lane, which handed another win to JT, which means JT has won the Div3 Int32 series – Well done JT !

1st  JT       79.58 laps
2nd  Jack     66.92
3rd  Riki     52.57

Div1 ran next.
Adam had the heat of the night with 23.32 laps on Red lane, but also the slowest heat of the division on Blue lane and this inconsistency let Barry win the top division (again !), and of course the Series – Well done Barry !

1st  Barry    90.34 laps
2nd  Kerry    87.60
3rd  Adam     86.97
4th  Baz      84.64

The “demolition-derby” division 2 ran last !

We're not sure whether the earthquakes have scrambled their minds or if it's the drugs they're on, but the Div2 class always seems to turn into a wild west shoot-out at the OK corral !
The amazing thing is that all the cars survived all the heats, but the same can't be said for the marshalls.
Shannon's Parma 32 seemed to take on the characteristics of an aeroplane rather than a car, and Pete's Parma 32 was more like that of a Bulldozer !
Perhaps we could make a reality TV series - “Survivor Division 2” ???
As it took so long for the dust to settle and the removal of the marshall's body parts after the bloody battle we never even worked out where the drivers finished overall for the Series.
But two of these cowboys will be promoted / demoted, the overall winner into div1 and the wooden-spooner into div3 then hopefully they will learn to how to race (unless they infect those divisions with the div2 insanity ?).
Sadly for JT he is gonna be promoted up to the melee that is div2 – May the Force be with you !

Survivor results :-

1st  Paul     82.34 laps
2nd  Pete     79.87
3rd  Shannon  71.51
4th  Dave     66.23

Another big thanks to Chris for bringing in a meat pack to be raffled, which Adam won this time.

Next week it'll be Teams Racing with 1/24th Cars !
Go the ABs,
Kerry : )

1/24th V8 SuperCar Teams Race
6th Sept 2011

On the 6th Sept 2011 Christchurch ran the 1/24th V8 SuperCar Teams Race.

With only 11 drivers, it was decided to run JT in 2 teams (that'll teach him !).
It was good to see Chris Reese back and racing.
John, Baz and Brendon were missing in action.
Each team captain randomly drew for a 2nd and 3rd bracket driver.

So the Teams were :-
Toomey's Terrorists
Barry,
JT,
Chris R.

Radford's Rebels
Kerry,
Paul,
Jack.

Adam's Ants
Adam,
Shannon,
JT.

Pete's Pirates
Pete,
Dave,
Steve.

The Driver raced for 4 minutes on each lane, giving them 16 minutes of racing each (but 32 minutes for poor ole JT !).
At the halfway stage Radford's Rebels were in the lead by about a lap from Toomey's Terrorists, with Adam's Ants only a couple of laps further back (and Kerry could already taste the Chocolate Fish !).
By the ¾ stage Toomey's Terrorists were just 5 segments ahead of Radford's Rebels.
Pete's Pirates had hit a rock and their ship was sinking !

The final results :-
1st Toomey's Terrorists  350.59 laps
2nd Radford's Rebels     344.47 laps
3rd Adam's Ants          343.70 laps
4th Pete's Pirates       309.06 laps

So it was Barry's team who sprayed the Champagne from the top of the podium and ate the coveted Chocolate Fish !
Adam's Ants were less than a lap behind Radford's Rebels, but even with 2nd place Kerry was still crying inconsolably over not winning the Chocolate Fish !

Another big thanks to Chris for providing a meat pack which was raffled and won by Dave.

Next week is the 4th (final) round of the Parma Int32 Divisional Series, followed by a 5th Heat Ladder Final !
Go the ABs,
Kerry : )

30th August 2011

On the 30th August 2011 Christchurch ran the 1/24th V8 SuperCars Divisional Series 3rd Round.

Div 3 ran first.
JT did 4 good consistent heats to take the top spot.
1st JT 81.01 laps
2nd Jack 77.23
3rd Steve 66.28

Next we ran Div2.
Pete had an great run on Yellow lane with 22.31 laps plus 3 other good heats to smoke the rest of the Div2 field.

2nd  Dave     80.22
3rd  Brendon  76.03
4th  Paul     73.23

Div 1 ran last.
Adam had the heat of the night with 25.24 laps on Yellow lane, but was inconsistent and let Barry won the top division yet again.
1st  Barry    97.19 laps
2nd  Adam     94.54
3rd  Kerry    93.03
4th  Baz      89.80
5th  Shannon  85.35

Another big thanks to Chris for bringing in a meat pack to be raffled.
Pete won it this time.
Next week it'll be Teams Racing with 1/24th V8 SuperCars !
Cheers,
Kerry : )

1/24th Grand Prix
23rd August 2011

11 drivers turned up on the 23rd including long lost Adam Brice !
5 drivers raced the feature 1/24th GP event and 6 were in a Parma Int32 consolation race.
The 1/24th GP cars were flying with 3 lap records being broken.
Pete broke lap records on the Yellow (23.56), Red (23.13) and Blue (23.60) lanes, and coincidentally Kerry did exactly the same on Red lane (23.13).
Well done Pete !

1st Pete  93.20 laps
2nd Kerry 92.72
3rd Baz   91.09
4th JT    82.93
5th Steve 72.36

Adam proved he's not lost any pace after being away for the last few months doing two heats with 22 laps and one heat with a 23 !
Both Barry and John were away, yet incredibly there was still a couple of jump-starts !
After the Parma Int32 racing was over the computer locked up and the results were lost !

But the results were something like :-
1st Adam
2nd Paul
3rd Brendon
4th Dave
5th Shannon
6th Jack

A big thanks to Chris for bringing in another meatpack that was raffled.

Next week is the 3rd round of the 1/24th Divisional Series, this time with V8 SuperCar Bodies.

Cheers,
Kerry : )

1/32nd Saloon Divisional Series

9th August 2011

After a week of snow then computer problems the following week the 1/32nd Saloon Divisional Series was 2 weeks late but 12 drivers still turned up on the 9th August 2011.

Div2 ran first.
All 4 drivers had a close race with Pete, Paul and Dave within a lap with 1 heat to go, but it was Pete who held his nerve and took the gold medal.

1st Pete    75.55 laps
2nd Paul    74.56
3rd Dave    72.51
4th Shannon 72.40

Next we ran Div1.
Brendon had car troubles and only had 1 good heat.
Kerry and Barry had a close battle, but it was Barry back on the top step of the podium again – Well done Barry !

1st Barry   87.19 laps
2nd Kerry   86.08
3rd John    83.63
4th Baz     80.94
5th Brendon 72.09

Div3 ran last.
It was good to see our newest member Jim race, and he had a great run for his first meeting of 15.86 laps on yellow lane.
JT set the pace and Jack had to settle for the second place.

1st JT      73.67 laps
2nd Jack    66.81
3rd Jim     60.48

The official schedule has been moved along 2 weeks, so next week will be 1/24th GP Cars and Parma Int32s for those without the Feature cars.

Then the following week (23rd August) it'll be the 3rd round of the 1/24th Divisional Series with V8 SuperCar bodies !

Cheers,

19th July 2011

It was suppose to be 1/24th EuroSport night (with a Parma Int32 consolation race), but with only 2 entrants in the 1/24th field that was abandoned, so and an “all-in” Parma Int32 race was held.

With Warren now in Wellington, and Chris, Brendon and Jack missing in action only 10 drivers fielded the race.
Baz had controller problems straight away and only completed a minute of the first heat.
It was good to see Steve back racing again.
Shannon had his spur-gear strip and that cost him any chance of a podium finish.
Ole sparring-partners JT and Dave had a very close battle for 5th and 6th places with Dave just over half a lap in front by the end.
The biggest shock of the night was that for the first time in months Barry did not win !
It was John and Kerry who made the top 2 podium spots.

1st   Kerry   86.90 laps
2nd   John    85.49
3rd   Barry   84.62
4th   Paul    81.45
5th   Dave    79.05
6th   JT      78.49
7th   Pete    70.43
8th   Shannon 64.71
9th   Steve   57.94
10th Baz      5.00

Next week will be the 3rd round of the Parma Int32 Series with Saloon Bodies.

Cheers,
Kerry : )

1/24th Divisional Series - Second Round
12th July 2011

12 drivers turned up on a cold Christchurch night for the second round of the 1/24th Divisional Series for Christchurch on the 12th July 2011.

It was Warrens last night at the CHCH club as he is moving to Wellington.
He brought in a great banana cake he'd made and the club members cleaned that up in no time ! : )

He was presented with a toolbox and new 1/24th car to help him kick some butt in Wellington where he will be racing – Good luck Warren !

Div2 ran first.
It was good to see Chris Reese turn up for the 2nd time in a row.
Dave was away fire fighting on the Port hills, but did arrive later on in the night.
Pete had four good consistent heats for the win, with Brendon not too far off the pace.

1st Pete    94.75 laps
2nd Brendon 92.29
3rd Chris   88.62
4th Paul    70.24

Next we ran Div3.
Good to see Steve back racing again.
Jack was away and left Warren without his normal sparring-partner for his last club night at CHCH.
JT took an early lead and did 4 good consistent heats to win the division.

1st JT      85.58 laps
2nd Warren  78.18
3rd Steve   66.56

Div1 ran last.
Shannon is enjoying Div1 racing and is on the pace.
Baz and Kerry had a very close battle for 2nd place, but it was Barry (again !) who stole the show.

1st Barry  101.20 laps
2nd Kerry   96.61
3rd Baz     95.81
4th Shannon 93.27
5th John    92.93

Next week will be 1/24th EuroSport Cars and Parma Int32s for those without the Feature cars.
Remember the follow week it'll be the 3rd round of the Parma Int32s which will be Saloon cars !

Cheers,
Kerry : )

Group 12/15 Racing
5th July 2011

Group 12/15 night and a Parma Int32 consolation race.

It was a big turnout with 14 drivers including long-lost Chris Reese and Split from Nelson, and making another special guest appearance the Rat the in the roof !

Another big thanks to Chris for bringing in a Meat-Pack which was raffled, and Barry won it this time.

The Parma Int32 consolation race was very close with all seven drivers finishing within just 5 laps.
Chris who'd normally be a top driver was a bit rusty which allowed Brendon and JT to take the podium positions along with Shannon who has been racing regularly and took the top spot by just over 1 lap from the fast improving JT.

1st Shannon 76.54 laps
2nd JT      75.50
3rd Brendon 75.26
4th Chris   74.00
5th Dave    73.44
6th Warren  72.54
7th Jack    71.79

The Group 12/15 cars ran last.
It has been many years (maybe about 8 ?) since there has been a field of as many as seven Group12/15 cars racing at the CHCH club !
With Paul Hamilton back from across the ditch now, this has sparked a bit more interest in this class again.
But Paul had car troubles and that left him in the dust.

Split, John and Barry took the podium positions, with John and Barry clearly faster than the rest of the field, with Barry keeping up his winning streak – Well done Barry.

1st Barry   93.49 laps
2nd John    90.94
3rd Split   87.09
4th Kerry   85.64
5th Baz     84.81
6th Pete    84.50
7th Paul    60.80

Next week will be the 2nd round of the 1/24th Series, with a 5th heat final for Ladder positions.
Note, the 3rd round of this Series will be V8 SuperCars, so get those bodies ready now !

Cheers,
Kerry : )

2nd Round Parma Int32 Divisional Series
28th June 2011

12 drivers turned up on a cold Christchurch night for the second round of the Parma Int32 Divisional Series for Christchurch on the 28th June 2011.

Div1 ran first.
Brendon was asleep for the first 3 heats then put in a great heat at the end, but it was too little too late !
Baz, John and Kerry fought it out for 2nd and 3rd places, but it was Barry who romped away with three heats of 22 laps and one of 23 (the only one of the night) to take top spot (again !).
There was a “jump-start” before one of the heats, but incredibly it wasn't Barry this time ! ; )

1st Barry   91.88 laps
2nd Kerry   88.21
3rd John    86.08
4th Baz     82.34
5th Brendon 75.91

Next we ran Div3.
After three heats Jack was ½ a lap ahead of Warren, but Warren had a great last heat to snatch 2nd place.
JT took an early lead and did 4 good consistent heats to win the division.

1st JT      76.79 laps
2nd Warren  73.29
3rd Jack    72.51

Div2 ran last.
With track repairs, car body swaps, pinion soldering, suspected power surges and restarts it seemed to take hours to run the last division.
Less than 5 laps separated all four drivers by the end, with Paul taking the gold medal in the marathon !

1st Paul    81.10 laps
2nd Pete    79.09
3rd Shannon 77.06
4th Dave    76.27

The biggest highlight of the evening was Warren trying to hit the Rat in the roof-beams with the broom !
Another big thanks to Chris for bringing in a Meat-Pack which was raffled (I still haven't won it yet !).

Next week will be 1/32nd Group12/15 Cars and Parma Int32s for those without the Feature cars.

The
CRUSADE continues …......

1/32nd GP night and a Parma Int32 consolation race.
21st June 2011

With only 10 drivers surviving the earthquakes they were all treated to 4 minute race heats at no extra cost ! (Batteries not included).

Another big thanks to Chris for bringing in a Meat-Pack which was raffled, that JT won this time.

The Parma Int32 consolation race was a good shake-down (for the guys without 1/32nd GP cars) before next weeks Divisional Series.

There was a 4-way battle for second place with Shannon less than a lap ahead of Dave by the end.
Luckily the race stewards didn't black-flag Shannon's car for leaving a trail of debris on the track as his orange paint was flaking off after each crash !
But Baz did 4 good heats and cleared away from the pack for first place !

1st Baz     111.12 laps
2nd Shannon 102.34
3rd Dave    101.49
4th Warren  100.81
5th JT       97.92
6th Jack     87.67

By the halfway point of the 1/32nd GP class John had a clear lead and all the other drivers were very close for 2nd position.
John finished his heats on the tricky blue lane and Kerry finished on the easier yellow lane and managed to make up enough ground to win by just 9 segments which is about ½ a second of race-time after 16 minutes of racing !!!

1st Kerry   108.44 laps
2nd John    108.35
3rd Pete    106.46
4th Brendon 104.37

Next week will be the 2nd round of the Parma Int32 Series.
Note, the 3rd round of this Series will be Saloon cars so get those bodies ready now !

First Round 1/24th Divisional Series
14th June 2011

It was the first round of the new 1/24th Divisional Series for Christchurch on the 14th June 2011.

11 local drivers survived the latest Earthquakes to compete along with long-time slotcar racer Split from Nelson, who's temporarily working in Quakechurch.
The copper tapes were cleaned just before racing started and with the track surface being cleaned and re-goo'd just a few weeks ago the cars were running about as good as they can, considering how bumpy the track and tapes are now.

Div1 ran first.
Shannon had been promoted up into Div1 after the last 1/24th Series and proved to be up to the task.
Barry did a 26.19 in the red lane which was close to the record, and with 3 other good consistent heats won by over a lap from Kerry then a couple of laps back to Baz.

1st Barry   101.43 laps
2nd Kerry    99.93
3rd Baz      97.33
4th John     94.19
5th Shannon  92.75

Next we ran Div3.
With only 3 drivers in the division turning up, Split ran with them as a warm-up before being thrown into the deep-end with Div2.
JT did 21 laps in all 4 of his heats to take a comfortable win in the division.

1st JT       86.32 laps
2nd Warren   81.34
3rd Jack     79.59
(Split did  86.67 “practice” laps).

Div2 ran last.
Pete had 4 consistent heats with 22 laps in each, giving him a 4 lap win over Dave who was promoted up after the last series.

1st Pete     89.53 laps
2nd Dave     85.06
3rd Split    83.65
4th Paul     81.22

Good to see Split turn up and race, and who knows we may even see Chris Dillon again soon ???

Another big thanks to Chris for bringing in Meat-Pack which was raffled (that Dave “tin-bum” Reese won for the 2nd time in a row !).

Next week will be 1/32nd GP cars and Parma Int32s for those without GP cars.

1/24th Grand Prix Night
7th June 2011

It was 1/24th GP night for Christchurch on the 7th June 2011.

In the 1/24th GP race JT had a night to forget with car troubles, a lapping incident and computer problems later on !
It was an extremely fast pace with 3 lap records being broken, 1 by Barry and 2 by Kerry.
Baz and Barry won a heat each, but it was Kerry with 3 wins and 4 consistent heats who took the gold medal.

1st Kerry   91.25 laps
2nd Barry   88.56
3rd Baz     87.10
4th Pete    82.05
5th JT      70.06

Next we ran a Parma Int32 consolation race for those without the 1/24th GP cars.

Jack and Brendon had car troubles, but Warren, Dave, Shannon and Paul had a close battle for the silver medal.
But John gave these guys a bit of a lesson showing them Div1 pace and winning by over 3 laps.

1st John    81.92 laps
2nd Paul    78.28
3rd Shannon 77.35
4th Dave    75.05
5th Warren  72.12
6th Brendon 66.90
7th Jack    62.48

A big thanks to Chris for bringing in another meat pack which was raffled (that Dave won this time).

Next week will be the first round of the 1/24th Division Series.

Group 12/15 Night
24th May 2011

It was the Group12/15 night at Christchurch on the 24th May 2011.

A Parma Int32 race was held first.

Only 7 divers turned up to race, so with a lack of marshalls it meant we ran 2 drivers at a time with the winner moving up to meet the next ranked driver.
We ran through this system twice.

1st Kerry
2nd Paul
3rd Dave
4th Pete
5th Warren
6th Jack
7th Chris

Next we ran the Group12/15 cars.

Just 3 drivers had Group12/15 cars, but we ran four 3-minute heats with only 4 marshalls anyway.
Paul had given himself a comfortable lead by the halfway stage, but then had controller troubles and unfortunately lost several laps in the 3rd heat.
Pete lead Kerry by just 2 segments after 3 heats, but Kerry won the last heat by just 5 segments to give him a 3 segment win overall !

1st Kerry  80.00 laps
2nd Pete   79.97
3rd Paul   75.66

A big thanks to Chris for bringing in a meat pack to be raffled (which Pete won).

Next week will be Parma Int32 for the first round of the new divisional series !

Last round of 1/24th LMP Divisional Series
17th May 2011

It was the last round of 1/24th LMP Divisional Series at Christchurch on the 17th May 2011.

Div 1 ran first.

It was a close finish for the 2nd to 4th places with less than a lap between John, Baz and Kerry !
But Barry had managed at least a lap more per heat than the rest of the field, and that meant Barry won all 4 races in the 1/24th Series (as well as all 4 the Parma Int32 Series), making him the Grand PooBah ! ; )

1st Barry   100.99 laps
2nd John     95.87
3rd Baz      95.83
4th Kerry    95.25

The Division 2 demolition-derby ran next.

With 15 drivers and 2 non-racing Dads there during the night, it still wasn't enough people to do all the marshalling required for the Div 2 melee.
During the calamity Peter Allens car jumped lanes and took off at full speed and deslotted backwards into a fence bending the rear of the Champion Turbo-Flex steel chassis ! : (
Cars continued to bash 'n crash around the track until the time ran out (normally the racing would end, but “racing” would have been a misnomer for what was actually happening).
Shannon managed to keep out of most of the carnage and finished in first place (well …... someone had to win), but the rest of Div 2 should hang their heads in shame !

1st Shannon  90.12 laps
2nd Brendon  87.79
3rd Pete (D) 85.87
4th Paul     83.99
5th Pete (A) 74.19

Unbelievably we saved the best 'til last with Div 3 – Yes that's right, Division 3 !

Young Jack (who has only raced a few meetings) did 2 heats with 20 laps – Very well done Jack !!!
But it was Warren who stole the show with 3 out of his 4 heats doing 22 laps !!!
Warren has only been slotcar racing for less than a year, but with 88.80 laps would have put himself 2nd in Div 2 for the night – Awesome effort Warren !!! : )
Perhaps most of the Division 3 guys should be swapped with most of the Division 2 lunatics for the next series ???

1st Warren   88.80 laps
2nd Dave     85.89
3rd JT       82.41
4th Jack     78.07
5th Steve    68.71
6th Josh     65.45

Below are the overall results for both the 1/32nd and 1/24th Series :-

The worst result was dropped so only the 3 best rounds (points) for each person in each Series counts for the overall totals.

The points system was 6 points for 1st place, 5 for 2nd, 4 for 3rd, 3 for 4th, 2 for 5th and 1 for 6th place.

Last round of Parma Int32 Divisional Series & AGM
 10th May 2011

It was the first day of the KFC Double-Down Burger and the last round of Parma Int32 Divisional Series at Christchurch on the 10th May 2011.

Div 2 ran first.

It was good to see Chris Reese back again.
Chris proved he had not lost any pace in the last couple of months giving the rest of the Div 2 boys a bit of a hiding !

1st Chris     83.95 laps
2nd Paul      78.92
3rd Shannon   74.99
4th Pete      67.23

Div 3 ran next.

Young Jack returned after a few weeks missing in action. With a new controller he did extremely well for only his first few meetings with a 16.42 on red lane – Well done Jack !
JT looked to have this race under control after the first heat, but body clips falling out of his car cost him several laps in the next heat.
Warren won one heat (18.27 in Yellow lane) – Good work Warren, but was no match for Dave's consistency.

1st Dave      70.29 laps
2nd Warren    67.83
3rd JT        67.05
4th Jack      63.25

Only 3 drivers raced in Div 1.

After 4 heats there was only 2 segments (!!!) between Kerry and John for 2nd and 3rd places.
Even though Kerry had stuffed his face with a KFC Double-Down Burger earlier in the day the Super-Human powers it gave him weren't enough to stop Barry winning, and that meant Barry won all 4 races in the Parma Int32 Series – Well done Barry !

1st Barry     91.12 laps
2nd Kerry     84.89
3rd John      84.87

Also, on the 26th of April Christchurch had its AGM.

The new appointments are :-

President :- Peter Darrell
Treasurer :- Barry Toomey
Secretary :- Kerry Radford
Committee :- Dave Reese, John Hawkins, Baz Milicich, John Truman, Paul Hamilton

All the normal stuff was raised in General Business (Roof, Track, Marshalling etc) and will be ignored over the next 12 months. ; )

Next week is the last round (of 4) for the 1/24th Divisional Series !

1/32nd GP Night

3rd May 2011

First we ran a consolation race for those without 1/32nd GP cars.

Baz had car troubles, and ended up racing 3 different cars in 3 heats, and not even racing his 4th heat.

Brendon was a clear cut above the rest, but Dave had 4 good consistent heats to put him in 2nd place overall just pipping Paul at the post – Well done Dave.

1st Brendon  85.33 laps
2nd Dave     70.75
3rd Paul     70.54
4th Steve    56.73
5th Warren   50.88
6th Baz      38.52

GPs raced next.

It had been many months sinced we last raced these cars, and unfortunately Johns tyres had gone off leaving him with a car that had very little grip.

Coincidentally with the final results JT and Shannon finished with less than a lap between them, Pete and John finished with less than a lap between them and Barry and Kerry finished with less than a lap between them – 3 close battles !

GP results :-

1st Kerry    84.21 laps
2nd Barry    83.63
3rd John     75.03
4th Pete     74.68
5th Shannon  68.96
6th JT       68.68

Next week is the last round (of 4) for the Parma Int32 Divisional Series !

The CRUSADE continues …......

V8 SuperCar Teams Race

19th April 2011

There were 11 drivers to be divided into 4 teams (by random draw), and another random draw was held to see who would drive in 2 teams to make the 12th driver, just like the raffle 2 weeks earlier Brendon was drawn out.

Dave walked in late but just in time to be subsitutied for Brendon in Pete's team.

So the Teams were :-

John's Jets              :- John, Shannon and Steve.
Kerry's Krusaders    :- Kerry, Paul and JT.
Baz's Bulldogs         :- Baz, Peter (D) and Brendon.
Pete's Pirates          :- Peter (A), Warren and Dave.

All the normal caos ensude.

Amazingly at the halfway stage only 1 lap separated the top 3 teams.

Only 6 laps separated the top 3 teams by the end.

Final result :-

Baz's Bulldogs      249.43 laps
Kerry's Krusaders   247.93
John's Jets         243.16
Pete's Pirates      219.35

Next week is the AGM then a 1/24th Eurosport demo and then an all-in race of some sort.

The CRUSADE continues …......(ed Whoops hickup this week, GO the HIGHLANDERS 26 - Crusaders 18)

Round 3 of the 1/24th LMP/GTP Series
12th April 2011

A random draw was held for the division race order.

Division 3 was run first.

Warren had car troubles and that put him out of racing for top spot.

The Dave vs JT battle was the reverse of last weeks result, with Dave beating JT by about a lap per heat this time.
Well done Dave !

1st Dave        85.19 laps
2nd JT          80.85
3rd Warren      59.93

Next we ran Division 1.

Normally Div 1 has the closest racing, but not this week as Div 2 would take that honour later in the night.

Still, only a bit over a lap separated Baz, John and Kerry for 2nd to 4th spots, but Barry showed a clean pair of heels clearing away from the rest of the field to take the gold medal.
Well done Barry.

1st    Barry                99.20 laps
2nd   Kerry                95.63
3rd   John                  95.04
4th   Baz                   94.18

We saved the best ‘til last with Division 2.

Paul and Brendon were a bit off their best, but both Pete’s and Shannon had a furious battle right down to the wire !
Once the dust settled only 3 segments separated 1st and 2nd place, with 3rd just 1 lap back !
The cool calm wisdom of Peter Allen just paid off against the faster but inconsistent Shannon.
Well done Pete !

1st  Peter (A)  90.81 laps
2nd  Shannon    90.78
3rd  Peter (D)  89.77
4th  Brendon    86.95
5th  Paul       79.33

Note :- The AGM has now been postponed from the 19th until the 26th April.

Next week we will run a V8 SuperCar Teams race.

Round 3 of the Parma Int32 Series
5th April 2011

Last weekend the Green LEDs on the Starting Box were fixed, and the new "Back-Up" lap counter PC is now also back up and running again, a big thanks to JT for all that work.

A random draw was held for the division race order.

Division 2 was run first.

Brendon again showed he will be moving up to Div 1 shortly with 4 good consistent heats.

1st  Brendon    81.25 laps
2nd  Peter (D)  75.02
3rd  Paul       70.11
4th  Shannon    69.51

Next we ran Division 3.

Once again the the battle between Dave and JT was all on with JT managing about 1 more lap per heat giving him a relatively comfortable win.

1st  JT         73.94 laps
2nd  Dave       69.77
3rd  Warren     63.74

Division 1 ran last.

For the 2 previous rounds of this Parma Int32 series Barry has won, with John in 2nd place, Kerry in 3rd and Baz in 4th spot.
"Bingo" - Same again this week :-

1st    Barry                  89.72 laps
2nd   John                   89.46
3rd   Kerry                   85.03
4th   Baz                     51.18

Note :- The AGM has now been postponed from the 19th until the 26th April.
We will run a V8 SuperCar Teams race on the 19th.

Divisional Race Series
1/24th Cars
29th March 2011

This was the first night of the 2011 divisional race "Series" since the interruption of the February 22nd earthquake.
13 drivers turned up.
Good to see Josh back and racing again.
Dave got Div 3 going with a great first heat, but JT managed to pip him at the post with 3 better heats to follow.
With those results JT managed to put himself in the Ladder "B" Final and got 7th overall in that - Well done JT !
1st    JT                84.92 laps
2nd   Dave            82.99
3rd    Josh            70.26
4th    Warren        68.73
In Div 2 Shannon had a blistering drive in the blue lane with an incredible 25.80 laps, but had a bad run in yellow lane.
In contrast to Shannon, cunning ole Pete (A) showed his experience with 4 calm consistent heats to win Div 2 and later that would prove to be enough to put himself through to the Ladder "A" Final.

1st  Pete (A)   94.75 laps
2nd  Shannon    92.83
3rd  Pete (D)   87.33
4th  Brendon    83.83
5th  Paul       82.66

In Div 1 Kerry did a 26.41 in green lane, and Barry did a 26.20 in the yellow lane at the same time, these could have possibly been lap records (??? - I forgot to check).

1st  Barry     101.34 laps
2nd  Kerry      99.62
3rd  John       95.50
4th  Baz        93.12

A "5th heat" final shoot-out was held for the Ladder positions.
Drivers were seeded from the 4 previous heats into an A, B and C final with the higher qualifiers in each final having lane choice.

Ladder result :-
Barry
Kerry
John
Pete (A)
Shannon
Pete (D)
JT
Baz
Brendon
Dave
Paul
Josh
Warren

So Barry tops Div 1 and the 1/24th Ladder  - Well done Barry !
Next week is round 3 of the Parma Int32 Series.

Warm up meeting
22nd March 2011

Kerry makes it 2 in a row !

11 drivers turned up to race Parma Int32's in a warm-up meeting before returning to the 2011 Race Series next week.
It was good to see JT back in action.
Baz was missing as he is in QLD for a week or so (talk about jumping out of the pan into the fire !).

The drivers were divided into 2 groups, with the winner of the first group having a "bonus" race with the second group.

It turned out to be a night of close finishes !

Warren and Steve had a close race, but Dave was just off the pace to keep JT honest.
Shannon had the fastest car, but with one too many "offs" Pete just managed to beat him by a 1/3 of a lap and put himself in the next race.

1st  Pete (D)   78.37 laps
2nd  Shannon    78.04
3rd  JT         72.10
4th  Dave       68.84
5th  Steve      56.03
6th  Warren     54.53

Paul is still getting use to Christchurch, earthquakes and racing again and will no doubt have his cars back up to speed soon.
Pete was again involved in a very close battle this time with Brendon, and after 4 heats just 1 segment separated them with Brendon on 78.99 and Pete on 79.00 !!!
In yet another thrilling finish John, Barry and Kerry all ended up on 88 laps, with Kerry taking the top step of the podium for the 2nd week in a row !

1st  Kerry      88.67 laps
2nd  Barry      88.38
3rd  John       88.15
4th  Pete       79.00
5th  Brendon    78.99
6th  Paul       72.19

Next week is the 2nd official round of the 1/24th cars in the 2011 Series as well as a 5th-Heat "Ladder" Final !

Also the AGM has been scheduled for Tuesday the 19th of April (probably Teams/Fun-night racing afterwards ?).

The CRUSADE continues (in London at Twickenham !!!) .........

1/24th LMP (non-points) meeting
15th March 2011

This was the second official meeting back after the February 22nd earthquake, but the first meeting last week didn't have any racing due to a power failure to the track, but plenty of swapping war-stories.

Luckily the club building is still standing and has very little damage to anything inside.

With 12 drivers we ran 2 groups of 6 over 4 heats with 1/24th LMP cars.

In the first group Shannon and both Pete's had a close battle with Shannon doing a great run on Red lane to put him on the top spot of the podium.

1st  Shannon    93.61 laps
2nd  Peter (D)  91.71
3rd  Peter (A)  91.19
4th  Dave       85.00
5th  Warren     73.49
6th  Steve      65.98

In the second group Paul struggled with the handling of his new car first time out.
Brendon and Baz had a close battle with Baz about 0.4 of a lap ahead once the dust had settled.
John, Barry and Kerry were extremely close with Kerry taking the top spot on the podium.

1st  Kerry      96.11 laps
2nd  Barry      95.71
3rd  John       94.16
4th  Baz        91.78
5th  Brendon    91.39
6th  Paul       79.46

The interesting thing was that only Shannon managed a 25 lap heat (25.05 on Red lane).

Next week we will run a similar meeting but with Parma Int32 cars.

The CRUSADE continues .........

1/24th Divisional Series
1st February 2011

On the 1st February we ran the 1st round of 4 for the 1/24th Divisional Series.

A random draw for which divisions raced 1st 2nd and 3rd saw Div 3 run 1st then Div 2 run 2nd, with Div 3 at the end.
We had the closest racing across all 3 divisions that we've seen in a long time, and we had 15 drivers race for the night !

JT and Dave slugged it out in div 3 with Dave just taking top spot.
We also had 2 new guys Chris and Jack come and have a go racing for the first time.

1st  Dave      82.33 laps
2nd  JT        81.20
3rd  Steve     65.06
4th  Warren    64.89
5th  Chris     55.72
6th  Jack      51.27

Div 2 had all 5 drivers racing at about the same pace, sadly Shannon had car troubles and it put him well down.
There was only 3 laps separating the remaining 4 drivers once all the dust had settled with wise-ole Paul winning from whipper-snapper Brendon by just over a lap, and Peter D beating Peter A by less than a lap !

1st  Paul      92.79 laps
2nd  Brendon   91.57
3rd  Peter D   90.15
4th  Peter A   89.56
5th  Shannon   56.34

Div 1 was a nail-biter with John and Barry just about racing side-by-side for the most part !
A tape-up saw the 4th heat re-run.

John had a couple more offs overall and that gave Barry the win !

1st  Barry    101.12 laps
2nd  John      99.69
3rd  Kerry     98.22
4th  Baz       93.78

Next week 1/24th GP cars !

The CRUSADE continues .........

Parma Int 32 Series
25th January 2011

The new race schedule for Christchurch in 2011 has 2 out of every 3 weeks as divisional racing with Parma Int32s and Champion Turbo-Flex 1/24ths.

It was decided that we would have a series for Int32s and another for 1/24ths over 4 rounds each, with the top 3 rounds for each driver counting in the series.

It was also decided that we would have a random race order (for the divisions) on race nights from now on, to help stop drivers arriving late and leaving early.

This was the first round (of 4) of Parma Int32s in this series.

Div 3 ran first and it was good to see Steve and Josh back racing.
Dave had a good run but it was JT who managed to win div 3 after the dust had setteled.
The practice and Enduro over the Xmas holidays paying off for JT !

Div 3 results :-
1st  JT        74.49 laps
2nd  Dave      73.16
3rd   Josh      70.49
4th  Steve     59.83
5th  Warren    58.24

Div 1 raced next with Baz promoted up from div 2 in the last series.
Close racing in the top division saw Barry just beat John by less than a lap !

Div 1 results :-
1sr  Barry     90.80 laps
2nd  John      89.91
3rd  Kerry     86.73
4th  Baz       83.48

Div 2 ran last.
Because JT won the div 3 race earlier in the night he was allowed to raced with the div 2 guys as a bonus (only div 3 points will count for the series though).
Paul showed that he would be back in div 1 shortly with good consistent laps throughout the 4 heats.
Brendon has been promoted up from div 3 in the last series, but struggled all night with a car that had very little brakes.

Div 2 results :-
1st  Paul      83.62 laps
2nd  Pete      78.61
3rd  JT        74.64
4th  Brendon   74.05

Next week the 1st round of 4 for the 1/24th LMP/GTP car series !

Cheers,

The GARDEN CITY 4 HOUR ENDURO was held on Saturday the 15th Jan at the Christchurch track with 4 teams of four drivers contesting this long over due event which was put together at short notice by Kerry Radford. We had six visiting drivers from the Blenheim Track and it was good to see that they had supported our enduro and thanks go to Nigel Boyce for organising his guys.

At the two hour mark it was still close with Bazzas Boys still keeping their noses in front but Boyceys Mob had got ahead of Kerrys Crew but Neils Wheels were on the charge and had pulled back some laps.
